Did you know you can map your Pressible site to a custom domain? You can forgo inclusion of pressible.org in your URL, opting instead to switch the Pressible domain for one you have registered through GoDaddy or similar. First, you will need to update your domain’s name servers to point to the Pressible IP, 188.8.131.52. Your registrar should provide instructions on how to do this if you’re unsure (it’s different depending on who you’re using). Since we’re using GoDaddy as an example, here’s their guide. Keep in mind that it can take 24-72 hours for your domain changes to propagate throughout the Internet. To check on whether the change has gone through, you can ping your domain to see if the IP matches the Pressible IP, provided above.
If you’re wondering how to ping a domain:
In Windows, select Start >Run OR Start>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt. From there, type the word ping, space, then the domain name.
On a Mac, go to the Finder and select Applications>Utilities>Network Utility>Ping. Enter the domain name in the field provided.
Now that you’ve confirmed the IP has changed, you can make your personal domain the primary domain on Pressible. Once you sign into Pressible and click on the Dashboard of the desired site, select “Domain Mapping” under “Tools.” Here you can enter the new domain (such as example.com) and select the box to make it the primary domain. As always, contact Pressible Support with any questions.
