The Pressible Team was pretty thrilled to introduce what (we think) is our most exciting feature yet: Reposting. Similar to reTweeting or reblogging (for those familiar with Twitter or some blogging platforms), the Repost allows a Pressible user to post someone else’s post to their own site.
This is how it works: Let’s say you’re cruising around the Pressible network and you read a post on another Pressible site that is really interesting. Perhaps you have some thoughts about that post that you’d like to share, or maybe you just want visitors to your site to benefit from its wisdom. When you’re logged into Pressible, you’ll see a button that says repost on the page:
Click it, and you’ll be transported to a shadow box like this:
Choose which one of your Pressible sites you’d like to repost to, write some of your own commentary, and click “Post.” That’s it! When you go back to your own site, you’ll see the post with your commentary as well as the attribution data (author name and site name) of the original author.
This is why we love it: There is a LOT of content out there on the net, and easy ways to link to and share useful, interesting content is how great ideas are spread. Pressible is a network of sites, but also a network of authors and ideas. Having a tool like this in Pressible makes it even easier to promote dialogue between like-minded authors in the network. We think the wealth of great content on Pressible, and great tools for sharing it, make individual sites and the network as a whole stronger and richer.
This week’s featured sites:
why.not is the personal research site of Jessica Mezei. As a repository to semi-related tidbits she finds in the course of her research, why.not is an excellent example of “content curation,” the web principle at the heart of Reposting.
Pressible Development – Not to toot our own horns, but we’re pretty pumped about the official launch of the soon-to-be-released Pressible 1.0. After months of planning and one last sprint this week, we’re thrilled to kick off the summer with the launch party next Tuesday, June 1st. If you’re reading this, consider yourself invited!
So keep on posting (and reposting!), Pressible people, and we’ll see you next week!
