Many Pressible sites use embedded videos whether they are created by the group (The Gottesman Video Collective, Education for Sustainability Network) or something the author found interesting and would like to discuss (Shelfless, Mediated). If you’d like to include video in your posts, embedding a player is quite simple, and there are two main options.
Option 1: Embed code (for featured media)
When editing a Post in the Pressible dashboard, there is a field labeled “Embed Code (for featured media)”. Embed codes are often available through video streaming services (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo). The Embed button is usually located near “share” or other similar options, and often indicated with this symbol set “</>” – this is code to paste it into the “Embed code (for featured media)” box in Pressible.
When you embed a video, you are actually placing a video player designed by the hosting website into your site. This means that sometimes, you can changed the size and sometimes even the color of the player embedded into your site. Please note: whether or not the video plays at any given time is also reliant upon the streaming service (i.e., not Pressible service).
Option 2: Use oEmbed
Pressible supports oEmbed, a protocol for embedding content from outside sources. It’s super-easy to embed content anywhere in your post with oEmbed:
- Load the image or video you want to embed in a separate browser window or tab.
- Copy the image/video’s URL from the address bar
- Paste it in the body of the post or page you want

Information on Uploading Video
Uploading media directly to a post can also be done, but is the least convenient option for an online audience. For more information, see the FAQ on Adding Media to a Post and Tips on Embedding Media.
