Post from the Front – Pressible Update

It’s been four months since Pressible was launched at Teachers College, and we are excited that the 137 sites by our 288 authors are visited by 300-400 unique visitors every day.  Using the feedback we’ve solicited from our users, we are continuing to develop Pressible, and are excited to update some features today.

New (and modified) features:

  • Posting from the front end. You are now able to post without going through the dashboard.  On your site, you will see a new “Post” link on the top navigation bar. When you click on “Post”, a light box will pop up, allowing you to publish quickly to your blog.

  • Reposts can be saved as drafts. You are now able to save your reposts as drafts and come back to the content later if you need more time with your commentary, or are coauthoring commentary with another author on your site.

Behind-the-scenes updates:

  • Additional embed code allowed. Pressible’s embed code text box (“Embed Code (for featured media”) has been updated to accept both HTML5, and hybrid embed codes.
  • Twitter Excerpts. Improvements have been made to the excerpts tweeted announcing your newest blog post.  If your site is not connected to your twitter account and you’d like it to be, follow the link about the “publish” tool box in your dashboard.

  • Comments are now unmoderated network-wide. This means Site Administrators no longer need to approve every comment, but they can still un-approve them if the need arises.
  • RSS feeds are even better. Pressible RSS feeds already carry the entire content of the post, but now they also contain “Related Post” links. So every time someone reads your post, they also are shown some other Pressible content that might interest them.

We are excited about these updates to Pressible, and look forward to user feedback. As always, feel free to give is your ideas and feedback via the library support system.
