Last Friday we pushed an update to Pressible that included a set of new features that allow you to create badges that will link to your Twitter and Facebook accounts as well as choose a link to your Teachers College affiliation.
To create these badges you need to login to your Pressible site and visit the Pressible Options tab in the dashboard. There you will see these additions to the options form.
For Twitter you simply need to enter your Twitter username, this will then create a link to your personal page on Twitter.com. The Facebook option requires that you copy and paste the full URL of your Facebook profile, Facebook does not provide a consistent username to URL feature the way Twitter does.
The Teachers College affiliation option is more open ended. We wanted to give people a way to link to a program, group, or department that they feel their Pressible site is most related to. For instance if you are a student in the Arts and Humanities program you may want to link to the A&H Pressible site or the department homepage. It’s really up to you. All it requires is that the text be a URL.
The badges display as such:
It should be noted that these badges serve only the site, not individual users, we wanted to see what the reception would be before we built this functionality into user accounts. Also note that these badges simply link to the relevant service, they do not “sync” or publish content to them, nor do they pull content from those services. These are options we may address in the future as well. Enjoy!
